#38 - Back from holidays

Greetings,

I've had three great weeks of summer holidays. Visiting family in Denmark and then a week at Meschers. A time to recharge myself with beautiful sunset walks along the sea, with just the wind and waves for company. It's been a true pleasure, nourishing the very core of my being.

Now I'm back and ready to help you recharge and relax, if you've not had the chance during your holidays. Star Keys Massage & Wellness is again open. You can find me every Wednesday at 5 rue Lamennais in Paris.

Can't afford my normal prices for massages? Take advantage of my unique sliding scale pricing on Wednesday the 31st of August.

Sliding scale means that you only pay what you can afford for the massage. It's a unique opportunity, so please share this offer your friends who feels massage is out of their usual capabilities.

Book today and make sure you get a slot before I'm booked full.

As usual you can book yourself in via Google Calendar at https://www.google.com/calendar/selfsched?sstoken=UUJiVEhLNGotNFJWfGRlZmF1bHR8N2UxY2MzMjU1YTYzNDZjZjBiMWM2NTZjMjQ1NTc5MDE
or contact me via e-mail at info@starkeys.com or phone at 06 76 03 00 06. Make sure you mention "sliding scale pricing" or this newsletter.

I look forward to seeing you.

#37 - Happy Holidays!

Greetings,

Star Keys Massage & Wellness will also be closed for three weeks during the summer holidays.

I'll be back in mid-August; recharged, inspired and ready to give you the massage of your life!

Return at rue Lamennais:
Wednesday the 17th of August I have a slot or two available during the day and the same is true for Wednesday the 24th. Wednesday the 31st I'm fully available again.

Returm at élément/rituel:
I'm fully available from Monday the 29th of August and onwards (not Wednesdays). It's possible to book a massage the week before, but my availabilities are limited.

The pilates studio and wellness centre élément in the 6th had new owners per first of July and has now changed name to Rituel. There are plans for new workshops and classes, and during the summer they'll redecorate and organize the place, including making a new and better massage room. It'll be interesting to see how things become after the holidays.

#35 - Earn free massages

Greetings,

Lots of things are going on at the moment with my training to become a LaStone® Instructor, being in charge of LaStone® France (http://www.lastone.fr) and then of course my own massage business. Because so many things are going on, I have less time find new clients.

My goal still is to expand my opening days, but for that I need more regular clients. This is where I need your help with referrals. And I will even "pay" you for your effort.

For every three new paying clients you refer, I will give you one hour massage for free!

Yes, that's right. Get three of your friends to book a massage with me, and you will have a free massage waiting.

Google has added a new calendar function with direct online booking. I would like to ask you to try it out and test it to let me know how convenient it is for you. You need to already have a Google account/calendar, but then it'll also display your own appointments so it's easy to see if you're available.
The online booking can be found at this link.

You can still book as usual if you prefer. This is a try-out to see how it works and as Google develops the product, I intend to incorporate it on my website for easy access and use.

Find the mistakes in this stone massage video

Becoming a LaStone® Instructor

I have some very busy and packed three days ahead of me when I leave for England tomorrow. There's so much to learn and know in order to teach LaStone®. But there are aspects to teaching LaStone® which isn't obvious to a practitioner or an outsider.

#34 - Learning to teach LaStone®

Greetings,

Just a week left until I leave for my LaStone® Instructor course in England. The days are spent studying and reading up on everything I know about geothermal therapy, LaStone® and the foundation of my stone massages. It's hard to separate the advanced knowledge I have from the basic.

Thank you to all who has supported me and enabled me to achieve this goal. When I come back, I will be able to teach massage therapists and body-workers LaStone® Original Body and introduce them to the amazing path as a Stone Walker. It's exciting, but also a bit intimidating.

My Wednesday hours will not be affected by the course, and I am available for massages all of June. Book your next appointment now and be sure that your favourite timeslot is available.

Working with temperature and massage always gives rise to considerations and things to be aware of. There are many contraindications in stone massage, though fortunately in most cases they just mean the treatment needs to be adjusted. #32 - Another course preparation

Greetings,

Again I am preparing for a LaStone® course in England. This time it's not just learning new techniques, but learning how to teach LaStone® therapy. I am an Instructor in Training and will over the summer be able to host my own classes. This of course means that my skills will increase and I gain an even deeper understanding of working with the stones. All to your benefit.

As usual, this means saving up big time. I will be away June 9th to 13th, during which time of course I am not available for a massage. Once again I'm calling out to my trustworthy clients and encouraging that you book an extra massage, or buy a gift certificate to a friend, or a prepaid package, to support me on my journey.

Wednesday the 4th is already filling up. I only have two slots left. One between between 13:30 and 15:30 and another between 17:30 and 18:30. Be quick and book now before it's too late. You can just reply to this mail.

Starting this month, I will be sending out my newsletter every two weeks. Readers have requested a higher frequency so they can easier keep up to date with my articles and news.

Don't forget to "like" my business page on Facebook and help me spread the word. The more fans, the better. http://www.facebook.com/StarKeysMassage. This is the fastest way to keep track of news, special offers and articles.

A world of different Stone Massages
What is a "Stone Massage"? Essentially it is a bodywork modality including the use of stones one way or another. There are many different expressions of stone-work. I say stone-work, because there are expressions which do not include massage or physical manipulation of tissue.

When we read about what massage is good for, the majority of focus is placed on physical benefits. This is easy to study and research scientifically, as it can be weighted and measured. I'm sorry this newsletter is somewhat delayed. It's for good reasons though as it means I've simply been too busy to find time to write it! Great news indeed. My days at Lamennais are well booked and I'm right now trying to expand my opening hours. Keep your fingers crossed.

I am also now on Google Places, which means that if you go to maps.google.com and do a search for Star Keys Massage in Paris you'll find me. I encourage you all to rate me and write a review of my massages, especially the LaStone so other people can read about me. Both French and English are needed.

On April 27th I'm hosting a Healing Hands workshop. Please let me know by the 15th at the latest if you want to attend. You can read about Healing Hands at http://www.starkeys.com/healing-hands-i.shtml

No one should ever experience a burn in a stone session by Mary Nelson

The benefits of stone massage by Mary Nelson
I am honoured to feature an article written by Mary Nelson, the founder of LaStone® Therapy. It is always interesting to read the thoughts of someone who've worked in a field for so long.
The benefits of stone massage and how it differs from other massage therapies
By Mary Nelson, founder of LaStone® Therapy
Many people do not understand the benefits of stone massage

Client, speak up and be empowered

There is a very common misconception among people that the massage therapist always knows how deep to massage and what is best. Nothing could be further from the truth. Only the client can fully know if a massage is too painful, a stone too hot or a stretch too intense.
This is why it is very important that you as a client speak up. You have a responsibility to inform your therapist of anything
http://blog.starkeys.com/2011/03/client-speak-up-and-be-empowered.html

What makes a good stone massage?
How do you as a client know that you are receiving a good stone massage? For someone who has never tried geothermal therapy before, it can be hard to distinguish between a qualified therapist with an extensive education, and one who've just had a half day course or watched a DVD.
This is just a quick overview so you easily can pinpoint if your stone-practitioner is properly qualified to work..

#27 - Happy New Year

Greetings,

I wish you all a very happy and prosperous New Year with lots of laughter and good experiences.

This past year has been exciting, new skills learned, lots of new clients and working at élément spreading the LaStone® experience. 2011 looks like it'll be even more exciting.

Right now I am finalizing the rental of a massage room in the 8th, close to Etoile and Arch Triumphe. This means that I, hopefully by the beginning of February, can offer LaStone® at two different locations in Paris. Through élément in the 6th, and as myself in the 8th.

One of the hurdles I am facing is to pick the day of week I want to rent the massage room. So if you have any preference, weekday vs week-end, Friday vs. Wednesday etc, please let me know so I can take that into consideration when I choose a day. Once things pick up, I will add another day or two.

With this new space, I also have the possibility to host workshops and courses during the week-ends. This can be Shamanic Journey and Native American ceremonies, Drum-making and Healing Hands, and wellness workshops.

If you're interested, please let me know so I can begin to organize.

Balancing the Water Fall
Balancing the Water Fall is a a treatment which aims to balance the flow of energies in the body. Traditionally it is thought that the water in the body is balanced and aligned. Looking at it from an Eastern viewpoint, meridian points are stimulated and the flow of chi in the body is balanced. No matter how you describe and think about it, it is the same thing going on.
